Common questions

When does the reading update?

Once per trading day, after the US market closes and the official closing prices settle. The app labels each reading with the trading day it belongs to, so a reading marked Tuesday is Tuesday's close even if you open it on Wednesday morning. Weekends and market holidays carry the previous close.

The app says the reading could not be loaded.

The app fetches a small file over the internet each time it opens. If that fails it is almost always a connectivity problem on the device or a brief interruption at the hosting provider. Check your connection and reopen the app. If it persists for more than a few hours, email us.

The home-screen widget is showing an old reading.

Android decides how often widgets are allowed to refresh, and it delays updates aggressively when the battery is low or when battery optimisation is restricting the app. Tapping the widget opens the app and forces a refresh. To keep it current on its own, find Nascast in your battery settings and allow unrestricted background activity.

Why did the regime change and then change back the next day?

Because the market did. The reading is recomputed from scratch every day and is not smoothed to look stable. Days near a boundary can flip. The conviction figure exists precisely for this: a low conviction reading is telling you the signals are close to evenly split and the regime label is fragile.

Which index does it actually read?

The NASDAQ-100. Prices are shown for both the index itself and QQQ, the ETF that tracks it, because they move together but quote at very different numbers.

Do you have an iPhone version?

Not yet. Android came first. The reading on the home page of this site works in any mobile browser in the meantime.

How do I cancel a subscription?

Subscriptions are billed by Google Play, not by us, so they are cancelled there: open the Play Store, tap your profile picture, then Payments and subscriptions, then Subscriptions, and select Nascast. Cancelling stops future renewals and leaves your access in place until the current period ends. Refund requests are handled under Google Play's refund policy.

I want my data deleted.

Nascast has no account system and stores nothing about you on our side, so in almost every case there is nothing to delete. Uninstalling the app removes the settings it kept on your device. If you have emailed us, write to support@nascast.com and we will delete that correspondence on request.

Reporting something that looks wrong

If a reading looks inconsistent with the market, that is worth an email. Include the date shown on the reading and what you would have expected. The engine is deterministic, so a genuine error is reproducible and fixable, and reports like this have caught real bugs before.
